About Offsite:
Offsite (www.offsite.com) is Airbnb for team retreats.
We are part tech-enabled services company (offering end-to-end team retreat planning for hundreds of companies like Remote, Buffer, Linear, Webflow, and HubSpot), and part marketplace (Airbnb, Thumbtack, Zola, Angi’s, etc) that helps you find venues and other vendors you need to plan your team retreat, conference, or offsite (such as keynote speakers, photographers, swag providers, travel agents, etc)
Offsite is already a marketplace that has facilitated $10M+ in spend on offsites and a growing user/client base. We were profitable in Q4 2024, and have raised over $4.3M from VCs like Automattic (makers of WordPress, Tumblr), Forum Ventures, Ground Game, Right Side Capital, and others in addition to 70+ angels including the founders of CEOs of Remote, Gainsight, Vendr, Convene, 15Five, Invisible.co, and others.
We’re working to raise our Series A sometime in the next year or so, and ultimately scale up to become the category-defining company for all things team retreats and conference planning.
Why? We want to make the world a more connected place, one IRL offsite at a time.
And we’re looking for our next Head of Engineering to help us get there.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with:
- experience managing a small but highly talented team of other full-stack engineers (you’ll be stepping in to lead a team of 2 other full-stack engineers today, up to 5 total by end of year, so collaboration, individual contributor-ship is critical, and willingness to mentor others is critical),
- and ideally you would bring at least 1 full-stack engineer with you from your network who has exceptional frontend development experience to help create more intuitive UX/UI for our users and vendors),
- experience building marketplaces (think Airbnb, Thumbtack, Angi’s, Houzz, Turo, UberEats, Zola, and so forth)
- who will be an individual contributor roughly 50% of the time (all of our department leaders are currently balancing IC work and management of their teams, and we’d expect you to do the same until we’ve raised our Series A, at which point the managerial needs may grow as we hire more people and our product becomes more complicated)
- who has exceptional product development instincts and can lead our team in creating more intuitive UX/UI for various user types, specifically as a marketplace,
- has previous startup experience (pre Series A), and ideally some experience scaling beyond that because #startuplife will typically call for more than 40 hours/week of work, and to become a category-defining, $1B+/year marketplace will require some of the best, most dedicated work of your career.
- who can collaborate cross-department to learn from our tech-enabled services business about the right bugs to fix, features to fix next, and aspects of our marketplace and overall software platform that can increasingly make parts of our service business obsolete.
